Heart Failure and Obesity Clinical Trials In Beltsville, MD

If you have preserved or mildly reduced heart function alongside obesity, you may qualify for heart failure and obesity clinical trials at Metropolitan Clinical Research (MCR).

Advancing Heart Health Through Clinical Trials of HFpEF and Obesity

About Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction
Heart failure with preserved or mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFpEF or HFmrEF) can cause breathlessness, fatigue, swelling, and difficulty with everyday activities. When obesity is also present, these challenges may become harder to manage and can increase the risk of worsening heart failure, urgent visits, or hospitalization.

Although standard care can help, some people still experience ongoing symptoms and complications, creating a need for additional treatment options. This heart failure and obesity research study is exploring a potential new treatment for people living with both conditions.

Looking Beyond Standard Care for Heart Failure and Obesity

This clinical trial is evaluating an investigational drug alongside standard heart-failure treatment in adults living with HFpEF or HFmrEF and obesity. Researchers want to see whether the study treatment can help reduce heart-failure hospitalizations, urgent visits, and cardiovascular deaths, while also improving heart-failure symptoms.

This study will also closely monitor participants’ health and safety to better understand how the investigational treatment may affect people living with obesity and cardiovascular disease.

Why This Study Matters

Heart failure with preserved or mildly reduced ejection fraction, particularly when combined with obesity, can affect everyday life and increase the risk of worsening heart failure, urgent medical visits, and hospitalization. Although standard care can help manage these conditions, some people continue to experience symptoms and complications, creating a need for additional treatment options. This study is being conducted to explore a potential new treatment option for improving heart-failure-related outcomes.

By participating, you’ll receive study-related care and support while helping researchers explore new treatment possibilities for people living with heart failure and obesity.
