Have You Had A Heart Attack, Stroke, or Been Diagnosed With Artery Disease?
Metropolitan Cardiovascular Research is conducting a clinical research study for adults with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) or certain risk factors that may increase their chance of experiencing a first cardiovascular event.
You may be eligible to participate and help advance research into future cardiovascular care.

Who May Qualify?
This Study May Be For You If You Have A History Of ASCVD
You may qualify if you have experienced:
Adults 18 Years or Older
History of Cardiovascular Disease: Heart Attack, Ischemic Stroke, or certain types of peripheral artery disease.
Increased Risk of ASCVD, experiencing a first ASCVD event.
Elevated LDL Cholesterol
Stable Cholesterol Treatment
Cholesterol-lowering therapy has remained stable for the required period.
Additional eligibility requirements apply. A study team member will review your medical history to determine whether you qualify.

Why Consider Participating?
Participation in clinical research is a personal decision. Potential participants may receive:
Health Monitoring
Study-related health assessments and ongoing monitoring.
Expert Research Team
Regular visits with a qualified clinical research team.
Ongoing Follow-Up
Study-related follow-up throughout the research period.
Advance Cardiovascular Research
An opportunity to contribute to research that may improve understanding of cardiovascular disease.
ASCVD Clinical Research Study
A Phase 3 clinical research study exploring a potential new approach to reducing the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with ASCVD or those at increased cardiovascular risk.Â
Phase 3 Research
A large-scale clinical study evaluating a potential treatment in adults at cardiovascular risk.
Randomized & Double-Blind
Participants are assigned to a study group by chance, while treatment assignments remain unknown during the blinded period.
Placebo-Controlled
The potential treatment is compared with a placebo to help researchers evaluate its effects.
Long-Term Follow-Up
Participants are followed over time to monitor cardiovascular health and study outcomes.
Understanding Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) What Is ASCVD?
ASCVD is a condition in which plaque builds up inside the arteries. Over time, this buildup can narrow or block blood vessels and may increase the risk of serious cardiovascular events.
ASCVD can affect different parts of the circulatory system and is associated with events such as:
- Heart Attack: Reduced blood flow to the heart can cause a heart attack.
- Ischemic Stroke: A blocked blood vessel supplying the brain can cause an ischemic stroke.
- Peripheral Artery Disease: Plaque buildup can reduce blood flow to the legs and other parts of the body.
Why Does Research Matter?
Clinical research helps researchers better understand cardiovascular disease and evaluate potential new approaches to treatment and prevention.
Your participation may help contribute to what researchers learn about ASCVD and cardiovascular health.

Frequently Asked Questions
IS THIS STUDY FOR PEOPLE WITH ASCVD?
The study is designed for adults who either have a history of qualifying ASCVD or meet specific criteria indicating increased risk of a first ASCVD event.
WHAT AGE DO I NEED TO BE?
Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Additional age and cardiovascular risk criteria may apply depending on the participant’s medical history.
CAN MEN AND WOMEN PARTICIPATE?
Yes. Both men and women may be eligible if they meet the study criteria.
DO I NEED TO HAVE HAD A HEART ATTACK?
Not necessarily. Some participants may qualify based on increased cardiovascular risk even if they have never experienced a heart attack or ischemic stroke.
WHAT IF I TAKE CHOLESTEROL MEDICATION?
Participants are assigned by chance to receive either the study treatment or placebo. The study is designed to be blinded, so participants and relevant study personnel do not know the assigned treatment during the blinded portion.
HOW DO I FIND OUT IF I QUALIFY?
Participants are assigned by chance to receive either the study treatment or placebo. The study is designed to be blinded, so participants and relevant study personnel do not know the assigned treatment during the blinded portion.
